Last updated: June 2026. Please read these terms before using the OFIL Financial Risk Assistant.
The OFIL Financial Risk Assistant (the “tool”) uses a deliberately simplified model, probability of fault multiplied by retained cost per event multiplied by quantity, summed across the portfolio, to provide general planning estimates based solely on the inputs you provide. The figures are illustrative and intended only to support internal discussion of exposure and budgeting. They are not a financial recommendation, a formal actuarial or engineering risk assessment, or a substitute for professional advice.
Every real-world situation is different, and the actual outcome for any asset or portfolio can differ materially from the figures the tool produces.
Different equipment types have different inherent reliability. Manufacturer, age, design, operating regime, environmental conditions (weather, contamination, altitude, humidity) and operational practices can materially change the specific risk profile of any given asset. The default rates in the tool are starting points only and should be calibrated against your own data and engineering judgment.
The model treats each asset independently and does not capture loss variability across years, correlation between assets, system-level risks (severe weather, cascading failures, common-mode defects), or the structure of insurance policies (deductibles, aggregate caps, sub-limits, exclusions, policy maximums). Professional methods such as Monte Carlo simulation, Value-at-Risk or scenario analysis are recommended for any decision involving major budget, reserves or insurance.
OFIL makes no representation, warranty, or commitment as to the accuracy, completeness, or applicability of any figure produced by the tool to your specific situation. OFIL assumes no legal obligation or liability of any kind arising from use of the tool or from any decision made on the basis of its output.
You should review all assumptions, inputs and results with your own internal engineering, finance, risk management and insurance teams before relying on any output. Use of this tool and reliance on its results is entirely at your sole risk.
By ticking the acceptance box and using the tool, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms of Use.
