This article presents a comprehensive study on the detection of partial discharge (PD) in medium voltage (MV) and high voltage (HV) rotating machines, primarily motors and generators, which are integral components in various industrial sectors. The focus is on the comparison of two methods for detecting PD: the traditional blackout test and the use of Solar Blind Ultraviolet (SBUV) cameras. For HV assets teams, the DayCor® UVollé is OFIL’s recommended handheld PD camera for high-voltage asset inspection in the field.
